Thoughts on tortillas, Toledo and trilingualism

KOMMENTAR – COMMENT

We flew to Spain for a few days in collaboration with Erasmus+ and here are just some cheesy thoughts about that journey for you…

I’m being honest: At first I thought this wouldn’t turn out as such a good trip. I didn’t think that the group would work and fit together much at all. Lucky me – I was more than wrong.

We’ve spent about 100 hours together in Spain and I came to a point where I can reflect the journey…

Even though we all identify ourselves in such different ways we still fit together very nicely and everyone of us has their own way of working, defining and being in general – which makes us such a colorful group full of ideas and laughter. Oh well… the laughter was a huge part of our trip… like… seriously!

No matter who struggled with anything the amount of humor on this journey made every struggle disappear.

I’m so very glad to be given the chance of joining our team and having the opportunity of flying to different countries and exploring the mentality, the working attitude and most important: the people.

Also I definitely appreciate the food I got to taste in Madrid, Toledo (which has A LOT of steps to climb… still not over this and the aching afterward…) and Talavera de la Reina – I still need to loosen my belt when I try to sit down… Shoutout to my guest family at this point who made it impossible to not get hungry after only smelling the food.

But not only the food was amazing! I’m so glad that most of the people we got to know in Talavera de la Reina were welcoming us with their arms wide open and always made sure that we’re not missing out on anything.

An actually more negative aspect which turned out as a good experience now was that not everyone was fluent in speaking English, so I felt like I was performing a trilingual talk show 24/7 – My host family in Spain didn’t speak English much at all and I was staying there with a French girl. So I was stuck between English, Spanish and French.

C’est muchas difficult manchmal…

It’s not a secret (especially after our survey we took on the last evening…) that the workshop didn’t work as planned all the time but that – to be honest – doesn’t even matter much because in the meantime we learned a way more valuable lesson: confrontation with tasks you need to solve not only on your own but also with people who may not understand you right away. At this point I also want to mention that we’ve had the pleasure of meeting such kind and exceptional people.

And now – after being extremely cheesy… I just want to say: Thank you to everyone of those who made this journey as beautiful as it turned out to be.

– And thank you for giving me the chance to be a part of this whole project. I definitely created and developed a small part of my future. –

Creating and developing your future
